Manuel is a writer, translator, bookseller, and oyster shucker from Monterrey, México. He has been a scholar or fellow at the Tin House Summer Workshop, the Juniper Summer Writing Institute, Community of Writers, and Chapman University, where he has also taught. Currently, he is the translator for the Borchard Foundation Center on Literary Arts, for A Leer Más Cuentos, and for a forthcoming collection of Mexican writer Yael Weiss’s short stories. He has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Denver, where he also taught and served as translations editor for Denver Quarterly. He sells books and serves fresh oysters at Ostiones y Libros Yoko, a moving books and oysters shop.
